Sessions and Approach

My hope in any session with a client is to listen with openness and genuine acceptance and over time to build a relationship that is grounded in trust. Changing behavior, ways of thinking or ways of relating to others is hard work. I like to create the kind of alliance with my clients that allows them to be vulnerable and try out new ways of being or looking at their story. My style in session is warm and relaxed and my aim is to allow room for full expression of feelings. In addition to attuning to my clients and listening deeply, I work with them to develop tools like breathing and relaxation exercises, mindful practice, the use of cognitive behavioral skills to challenge automatic thoughts, and expressive writing to help with symptoms and to gain insight.
